No Big Name Stars Will Leave Inter Milan This Summer – Captain Close To Signing New Contract

There will not be any big name departures from Inter Milan this summer, as a contract extension for Lautaro Martinez is close.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

In the past few years, the big sales at Inter have been just as notable as the signings. If not moreso.

In the summer of 2021, Inter sold both Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku for massive fees.

Then last summer, Andre Onana headed to Manchester United in a blockbuster deal, just one year after joining Inter on a free transfer.

Moreover, Milan Skriniar also left the Nerazzurri on a free transfer. He joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, with whom Inter had been negotiating the previous summer.

Losing key players like this and rebuilding has not stopped Inter from winning trophies.

The Nerazzurri have won the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions, all since the policy of big sales started with Hakimi and Lukaku.

However, the Gazzetta report, Inter want this summer to be different.

No Big Sales At Inter This Summer – Lautaro Contract Extension Close

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are determined to keep together the group of players that has just won the Serie A title.

Of course, there will be some sales. But no players of anywhere near the stature of Lukaku or Onana for example will depart.

Among other things, that means that captain Lautaro Martinez will soon sign a new contract.

That extension will see the Argentine’s wages rise to around €9 million net per season plus add-ons.

If there is to be a major sale, the likeliest name to depart would be Denzel Dumfries.

Inter want to either extend the Dutchman’s deal, or sell him this summer.

Meanwhile, there is a release clause worth €85 million in the contract of striker Marcus Thuram.

Inter would be powerless to stop the Frenchman’s departure should an offer of that size come in.

Paris Saint-Germain are the most keen on Thuram’s signature.
