NHL bets: Point props lead the way for tonight's postseason play

We have a close-out game in New York and basically a must-win game in Colorado headlining tonight's playoff NHL action. We're drawn to the home teams leading the scoring charge this evening, so we've pocketed a pair of plus-money point props off that belief.

Alexis Lafreniere over 0.5 points (+105 ESPN BET/DraftKings)

Hurricanes at Rangers, 7 p.m. ET

We highlighted Alexis Lafreniere's shots on Saturday and he delivered. Yes, I am going back to his 3+ shots line at +165, but I want to also flag his point prop at this price, which I'm jumping on for 1u.

Lafreniere is simply rolling for the Rangers. He tops the team in even-strength shots, expected goals and high-danger chances this series, which has resulted in four goals and two assists.

What I love about Lafreniere's six points this series (one in each game), is that they have all come during even-strength play. Carolina's best hope at another win is to stay out of the penalty box, and I want to back players who don't rely on the power play for their production.

Laf checks that box, demonstratively I might add. At this price, sign me up. I expect New York to end this series tonight at home.

Lafreniere has a point in all four home games this postseason (six total).

Devon Toews over 0.5 points (+125 ESPN BET)

Stars at Avalanche, 9:30 p.m. ET

This is a massive game for Colorado tonight, they cannot afford to drop both home games here and head back to Dallas down 3-1 in the series.

I do think we see more scoring out of the Avalanche end this evening, and that's what propelled me down some point/goal looks for Colorado tonight.

Devon Toews looks good to me. The Colorado defenseman is fresh off a five SOG night on 11 attempts, assisting on the Avs's lone goal. Toews has been steadily finding a few shots each game here, and he's been quite productive on home ice during the postseason.

Toews has a point in 16 of his last 21 home playoff games, piling up 19 total. He shares the ice with Cale Makar and Colorado's top line during even-strength play, an advantageous role to have.

Another great price is all I need to see to join the Toews train tonight.
