Carolina Panthers Still A Top Trade Suitor For Star Receiver

Despite implementing a franchise tag and acquiring a Pro Bowl-caliber pass catcher through trade, the Carolina Panthers remain a potential destination for another notable wide receiver.

Following Stefon Diggs’ departure, Adam Wells of Bleacher Report identified potential suitors for other prominent receivers, including Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins and free agent Odell Beckham Jr. Wells suggested that Higgins could be a good fit for the Panthers.

“Adding Higgins would dramatically improve the Panthers’ receiver room. They would have a bona fide No. 1 on the outside who can create plays deep down the field or in traffic. Even if the Panthers had to trade the No. 33 pick, which is their first selection in the 2024 draft, they need to surround Young with as much immediate-impact talent as possible to determine if he’s the quarterback they thought he was when they selected him with the top pick last year.”

Should the Panthers pursue such a deal, it would need to materialize in the coming weeks.

Presently, Carolina possesses the 33rd and 39th overall selections in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft. These picks could pique the interest of the Bengals, who designated Higgins with the franchise tag in February.

However, the Panthers face a decision: opt for drafting a wide receiver with one of their picks and benefit from a rookie contract, or use one of these selections to acquire and immediately compensate the 25-year-old Higgins.

Given the current state of affairs, the Carolina Panthers must make bold and proactive moves to reposition themselves for playoff contention. Adding Higgins to their offensive arsenal would represent a significant stride towards postseason success.
