WATCH: Terrible collision between Carlos Gomez, Jake Bauers
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

During Saturday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Carlos Gomez paid a major price for catching a foul ball.

Both the veteran outfielder and rookie first baseman Jake Bauers sprinted into foul territory to try and grab the foul ball drifting further towards the stands.

The two players made sliding attempts for the baseball and it led to an ugly collision that left both players shaken up.

Fortunately, both players stayed in the game and actually had an at-bat in the very next inning.

Tampa Bay won the game 7-3, helping turn a scary situation into something everyone in the clubhouse could laugh about after the game. Well, everyone except for the two players involved. That’s no laughing matter.
