13x PGA Tour winner Jason Day CLAIMS Augusta National officials asked him to remove baggy clothes at The Masters

While he has been previously trolled heavily by fans for his clothing, this was something that he was not expecting. After the round as the reporters swarmed around him to get his thoughts, Day revealed that he indeed was asked by the Augusta Nationals officials to get rid of it. Before that he added that he respects their tradition and rules.

Respectfully, you do that because it's all about the tournament here, and I understand that. I respect the tournament. That's what we're here to do is try and play and win the green jacket.... It came from Augusta National... I don't know if it was a green jacket. I don't know who it was. They asked, and I respectfully took it off. Jason Day said.

The 36-year-old golfer further revealed that he was not trying anything on his own and was just following the script. As per him, the sponsors send him a script and instruct him on which outfits he should wear on that particular day.

I wasn't trying to do anything. They just scripted me in it, and I was wearing it.... they send you the scripting and say, this is what we want you to wear Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and I'm like, okay. Jason Day continued.

Why was Jason Day asked to remove his clothes?

The one question in the minds of many fans is why was Jason Day asked to remove his clothes. The answer to this question is due to the sponsors.

While there are no such rules which stops the players from representing their sponsors at The Masters, there are some limitations. As per reports from New York Post, the Augusta National does have a restriction on how large the logos can be on the shirts of players.

As Day’s clothes did not meet this requirement, he was asked to remove them. This is the same reason why LIV Golfers, who are endorsing their league with their caps and t-shirts, have been allowed to wear their apparel.

Speaking on Day’s performance after this encounter, he would continue the second round after removing the west and went on to make the cut. He followed this up by firing a score of 4-over 72 which left him at T45 heading into the final round on Sunday.
