The transformation of the 2024-25 Duquesne men’s basketball roster continued on Wednesday as the Dukes pick up their 6th commitment via the transfer portal.
St. Francis, PA freshman forward Eli Wilborn announced his commitment to Head coach Dru Joyce III and the Duquesne Dukes. Wilborn joins Maximus Edwards (George Washington), Alex Williams (Furman), Cam Crawford (Marshall), Jahsean Corbett (Chicago State) and Tre Dinkins (Canisius). Wilborn made this decision after making an official visit to Duquesne last week.
Wilborn — a 6-foot-8 forward — spent one season as a freshman with the Red Flash in Loretto, Pa. where he made an immediate impact on the second-youngest team in Division I this past year.
Wilborn, started 27 games, and averaged 10.8 points, shooting a team-best 54. % from the field and took down 7.4 rebounds per game. Wilborn put up 3 double-doubles and led St. Francis with 47 blocks on the season. .
The Middletown, Conn. native was ranked as the 26th-best prospect out of the state in 2023.
With three years remaining, Wilborn is another nice addition for the Duquesne coaching staff to develop over the coming seasons. According to The Portal Report, the Dukes went up against a long list of suitors including, Clemson, Saint Louis, Ohio, Boston College and others for Wilborn.
